The Communications Officer assists the Senior Communications Officer with designing, planning, and implementing the Transportation Authority’s agency-wide and project-specific communications, including marketing, media relations, and public relations projects and programs. Under the direction of the Senior Communications Officer, the Communications Officer leads or assists communications initiatives, including integration and maintenance of agency communications assets, and supports all divisions and project-level public outreach activities.


Completion of a bachelor’s degree in appropriate disciplines, such as Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a closely related field from an accredited university is required. Two (2) years of experience in coordinating communications and marketing, media relations, and/or community outreach programs. A master’s degree in one of the appropriate fields may substitute for one year of required experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

$72,780–$98,256 (depending on experience), plus excellent benefits.

Salary is effectively higher since the Transportation Authority offers an employer contribution to a retirement plan in lieu of Social Security.

In addition, the Transportation Authority offers a generous cafeteria-style benefits package, elements of which include, but are not limited to:

Retirement: Up to 8.88% employer contribution

Insurance: Health, dental, life, and long-term disability. Medical and dependent care pre-tax reimbursement accounts.

Deferred Compensation (Section 457): Up to $24,000 employee contribution.

Vacation: Three (3) weeks of vacation per year during the first five (5) years of service.

Holidays: 11 holidays per year, plus 3 personal holidays 

Up to $130 per month in Commuter Checks or $20 per month bike benefit.
