Welcome and Introductions 2. Review Goals & Objectives and Progress To-date (meeting minutes) This is a standing item on all PWG agendas. Minutes from the September 19 meeting are attached for your reference. 1:10 p.m. 3. MUNI Paratransit Program Demand Projections (attachment 1) In order to forecast future financial needs for MUNI's paratransit program, we have been working with MUNI staff and our consultant to develop a 30-year forecast of paratransit demand. We have refined the projections, which include a range (low and high) based on the discussion at the September PWG meeting. At the November meeting, we would like to obtain PWG support to use projected demand as a basis for estimating the need for additional operating funds. 1:30 p.m. 4. Cost Efficiency and Demand Management Strategies (attachment 2) At the September meeting the PWG reviewed several strategies that MUNI and other paratransit service providers are using or considering as potential cost savings measures and/or to manage demand. In light of political likelihood and other factors, seven topics were moved forward for consideration at this meeting ranging from fare equity to education. One of those topics is most relevant to new revenue sources which are scheduled to be discussed at Meeting #3 and another topic was discussed in relation to projecting the long-term cost of MUNI's paratransit program (see Item #3). Here we will discuss in detail the merits of the five cost efficiency and demand management strategies, how they would be implemented, and potential drawbacks with the intent of having the PWG make recommendations about which strategies should be included in the Action Plan. 2:35 p.m. 5. Next Steps (attachment 3) We will recap any decisions made at the November PWG meeting, identify follow-up items, and review the proposed agendas for subsequent meetings to determine if additional items should be added, or if items can be deleted if consensus has been reached. Consensus items will be included in the Draft Action Plan. 2:45 p.m. 6. Public Comment 7. Next Meeting: January 23, 2006 We will confirm the date for the next meeting of the PWG. The third Monday in January is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, so we recommend that the next meeting be held on the fourth Monday, January 23, 2006. 3:00 p.m. 8.
