Federal Transit administration new freedom program
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is currently soliciting projects in the San Francisco Bay Area's large urbanized areas for the Federal Transit Administration's New Freedom grant program (Section 5317). The New Freedom program provides grants for new capital and operating projects aimed at reducing, beyond the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, transportation barriers faced by individuals with disabilities. ELIGIBILITYPrivate non-profit organizations, state or local governmental authorities, and operators of public transportation services, including private operators of public transportation services are all eligible to apply. In addition eligible projects must:
New Freedom funds can be used for capital and operating expenses. A 20% local match is required for capital and mobility management projects and a 50% local match is required for operating projects. FUNDING AVAILABILITY$2,212,018 in New Freedom funding is anticipated to be available in the San Francisco-Oakland large urbanized area during this cycle.
