Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program (Prop 84)

The State of California has made $368 million available for the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program through the Sustainable Communities and Climate Change Reduction chapter of Prop 84, the Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality and Supply, Flood Control and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006, which was passed by California voters in November 2006. 

STATEWIDE PARK DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION PROGRAM

Projects funded by the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization program are aimed at developing new parks and recreation facilities in proximity to the most critically underserved communities across California.

The State of California, through the State Parks Office of Grants & Local Services (OGLS)  will provide $184 million in grants for the first cycle of this program.

ELIGIBILITY

Eligible applicants include: city and county governments, municipal districts, joint powers authorities and non-profits

Eligible projects must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a joint acquistion and development project
  • Be a development project
  • Score well on the 0-100 criteria point scale outlined in the application packet 

FUNDING AVAILABILITY

Approximately $184 million is available.  The minimum grant size is $100,000 and the maximum grant size is $5 million.  There is no local match requirement.

Applications for the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization program must be submitted to the OGLS by Monday, February 8, 2010.
