During the July 23 Transportation Authority Board meeting, board members gave final approval to the Jane Warner Plaza Final Report.

Led by San Francisco Public Works, the Jane Warner Plaza planning efforts sought to enhance the safety, longevity, and appearance of plaza features at the intersection of Castro and Market Streets. This project was funded through the Transportation Authority's Neighborhood Program at the request of Transportation Authority Board Chair Rafael Mandelman.

In the preferred concept, the central plaza area is envisioned to be a flexible space for community gatherings. The longer-term vision is to improve the existing wide sidewalk area along Market Street and to form a gateway to the Castro and Upper Market Street. San Francisco Public Works, in coordination with the SFMTA conducted site walks and met with project partners, community members, and local businesses to gather input on project features including paving, decorative elements, greenery, movable furnishings, and more.

The next steps of the project are to identify funding for further design and engineering.
