Last month, the Mission Geneva Safety Project began construction in the Excelsior. The project is a community-focused effort led by the SFMTA that will bring pedestrian and bicycle safety, transit reliability, and curb management improvements to the Excelsior District.

San Francisco tops the list of 60 major cities worldwide at the forefront of urban mobility trends, according to the 4th Annual Urban Mobility Readiness Index presented by consulting firm Oliver Wyman, citing the city for its innovation, market attractiveness, and rich ecosystem of travel options.

This month, the Transportation Authority Board adopted the San Francisco Transportation Plan, the blueprint for the city’s transportation system development and investment over the next 30 years to fund a broad range of projects.

The Transportation Authority’s Community Advisory Committee consists of 11 community members, each representing one of San Francisco’s supervisorial districts. The committee comes together each month to discuss and provide feedback on transportation projects, policies, and investments which is shared with the Transportation Authority Board.

The Conference of Minority Transportation Officials honored the Transportation Authority with the Civic Equity Champion Award at their Northern California Chapter’s 19th Annual Scholarship and Industry Awards Gala in early December. In addition, the American Council of Engineering Companies’ California Bay Bridge Chapter recognized the Transportation Authority as Agency of the Year.

During the Transportation Authority Board meeting this month, board members approved $1 million in Prop AA vehicle registration fee funds to support the design for Phase 1 of the 29 Sunset Improvement Project.

We celebrated the completion of upgrades at Powell Street Station. The project revitalized the station with new art, lighting, fare gates, wayfinding, and more to improve safety, security, and overall customer experience.

The Clipper BayPass is available to about 50,000 college students in the Bay Area through a two-year pilot program. The passes provide students unlimited free travel on transit agencies that user the Clipper fare system, allowing unprecedented mobility throughout the region.
